The Los Angeles Clippers got off to a horrible start this year 1 and 13. This was largely due to Baron Davis and Chris Kaman being out with injuries. It looked as if they could have one of the worse seasons of any NBA team ever. However, as soon as Baron Davis came back, things changed. They’ve been 10 and 11 since their stumbling start and are 8½ games out of the 8th and final play-off spot in the West. Chris Kaman should be back soon and they will certainly improve even more.
Right now they have the Rookie of the Year in Blake Griffin who is putting up numbers as good as or better than MVP candidate Dwight Howard (Griffin: 21.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists — Howard: 21.2. points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists).
Shooting guard, Eric Gordon, is also having a terrific season. He is averaging 23.5 points a game, sixth best in the West and damn close to Kobe Bryant’s 25.1. This is an incredible increase from the 16.1 and 16.9 he averaged his first two seasons. He could be the NBA’s most improved player of the year.
Look for the L.A. Clippers to be battling for that 8th play-off spot by the end of the season. I predict they’ll make it.
